Last term saw the launch of a special website in our network: Noonkopir Primary School, www.noonkopirtownship.sc.ke . The school is located in Kajiado County and is a beneficiary of an Internet connection project by UNICEF and launched by the Principal Secretary, Basic Education, Dr. Julius Jwan on 29^th June, 2021. The launch was attended by among others, Ben Roberts, Group CTIO Liquid Intelligent Technologies and Davis Waithaka, CEO Elimu Holdings. Liquid implemented the Internet connection and Elimu developed the school website.

During the launch, the PS, Dr. Jwan, said that the government will continue to support digitization efforts in education around the country. He noted that beyond the infrastructure needed for digitization, schools should ensure that all their teachers and learners acquire the necessary digital skills for success in this new age. Mr. Waithaka reiterated that Elimu is committed to train schools to professionally manage their websites and other allied digital technology to fully reap the benefits of the tools availed

The PS was given a tour around the school by the headteacher and he witnessed the application of technology in the classroom. He observed how pupils were using the tablets provided under the digital learning program to follow a math class. The Elimu CEO noted that all schools should embrace digitization as a way to broaden the frontiers for our learners. He said that the future is here and no school or child should be left behind.

Noonkopir demonstrates the power of the new digital landscape especially in the education sector. Where it does not matter whether one is in a big school or small school, urban or rural, private or public. They can all benefit from the power of digital transformation. This is truly the new-age definition of the levelling of the proverbial playing field in education.

By the time the website was launched teachers were trained on how to manage the website including the use of all integrated features. Today, the school can communicate with all parents directly using the web pages or via SMS communication integrated on the website. Elimu continues to provide technology to Digitally enable schools.

Elimu has so far developed websites for over 1,000 schools around Kenya. The company has introduced various services on the websites including report form processing and fees management. According to the CEO, the company targets to develop websites for a further 1,000 schools in the coming months.
